The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced that five Iranian oil tankers have been disabled as a result of targeted strikes.

Sea-news.az reports that the incident occurred on September 8. Command stated that this measure was carried out following two separate ballistic missile attacks launched by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) against U.S. Navy vessels over the preceding two days.

CENTCOM’s statement noted that the tankers Kaviz, Charminar, Horizon 1, and Riesco, which were navigating the Gulf of Oman, alongside the vessel Derya located near Kharg Island, were subjected to strikes by U.S. forces.

The U.S. side maintains that the vessels in question are linked to Iran. The official statement did not provide information regarding whether crew members were onboard the tankers or if there were any casualties or injuries resulting from the incident.

CENTCOM also reported that on September 5, U.S. military personnel disabled three additional Iranian oil tankers.

Consequently, according to statements from the U.S. side, atleast eight Iranian oil tankers have been targeted over recent days. There is currently no information available as to whether the Iranian side has issued an additional official response regarding these events.
