The transformation of the Middle Corridor into a high-capacity, resilient trade artery relies just as heavily on regional industrial manufacturing as it does on maritime navigation and port throughput.
Expanding domestic shipbuilding and localized maintenance capabilities—exemplified by the advanced production lines and international commissioning projects at the Baku Shipyard—demonstrates that Azerbaijan’s strategic role extends far beyond a simple geographic transit point. By constructing specialized vessels, multi-purpose support craft, and expanding container-handling infrastructure to meet rising regional demands, the country anchors itself firmly within the core of the Eurasian logistics value chain.
Securing long-term resilience across the Caspian basin ultimately requires synchronized investments in both physical transit corridors and the industrial ecosystems that support them.
