On Saturday, U.S. military forces intercepted and sank a group of vessels operated by an Ecuadorian drug cartel in the eastern Pacific Ocean.

Sea-news.az reports this, citing a statement from the U.S. Southern Command.

In a post on the social media platform X, the Command stated: “Intelligence confirmed that the vessels were operating on behalf of the brutal narcoterrorist organization Los Choneros. Those on board were detained and handed over to Ecuadorian authorities. Afterward, U.S. forces sank the vessels.”

The vessels reportedly served as floating fueling stations operating in the eastern Pacific.
