Strait of Hormuz mine clearance

101

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) Commander Admiral Brad Cooper has announced that military forces have successfully neutralized all remaining sea mines in the Strait of Hormuz.

Sea-news.az reports citing a video message published on the command’s official account on the social media platform X, that Admiral Cooper stated:

“We have successfully completed the process of neutralizing the sea mines that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) placed along international commercial shipping lanes in the gulf months ago.”

Despite this official declaration, a report published earlier this week by Bloomberg notes that U.S. allies maintain reservations, concluding that potentially hazardous mines may still remain within the strategic waterway despite Washington’s assurances.
