The Palau-flagged dry cargo vessel Svetoslava, belonging to Cunda Shipping, has sunk under unknown circumstances in the Black Sea while en route from the Turkish port of Samsun to the Moldovan port of Giurgiulesti during the night.

Sea-news.az reports that Ilham Nasirov, chairman of the “Support for Azerbaijani Seafarers” Public Union, shared the news on social media.

13 people on board, comprising 11 Azerbaijani citizens, 1 Turkish citizen, and 1 Russian citizen. The Turkish Coast Guard promptly intervened and successfully rescued all 13 crew members. The rescued seafarers were transferred to a hospital for medical evaluation, and their conditions are reported to be satisfactory.

The report concluded with a safety appeal to maritime professionals working in high-risk zones: “May God protect our seafarers. Avoid working in high-risk regions. The greatest gain is returning safely to your family. Make every decision with this thought in mind.”
