The agreement reached between Iran and Oman regarding the Strait of Hormuz serves as a prime model for conflict resolution and cooperation exclusively among regional states in the Gulf.

Sea-news.az reports that this was stated by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

The Foreign Minister stated that “the proposed structure of the new corridor, the partnership framework with Oman regarding mine clearance, and the future management of the Strait of Hormuz stand as examples of home-grown regional solutions.” He noted that during recent meetings in Tehran with delegations from Pakistan and Oman, “special emphasis was placed on finding solutions from within the region itself.”

Araghchi added that Iran’s commitment to peace and stability goes hand in hand with its ongoing diplomatic engagement with neighboring states.

Notably, Iran and Oman have agreed to establish a provisional maritime corridor aimed at joint management in the Strait of Hormuz, as well as to continue technical negotiations regarding a permanent corridor.
