Indian authorities have discovered an emergency beacon and a lifeboat belonging to the Panama-flagged dry cargo vessel MV Ocean Winner, which sank in the Bay of Bengal. However, no survivors were found inside the lifeboat.

Sea-news.az reports citing Reuters and the Indian Coast Guard, that search and rescue operations are ongoing in the area where the lifeboat was recovered. Efforts are currently underway to locate the 22 crew members still reported missing. Additional forces from the Indian Coast Guard and Navy have been deployed to assist in the operation.

The Panama-flagged cargo ship went down in the Bay of Bengal on August 22. At the time of the incident, there were 24 crew members on board, comprising 20 Chinese nationals, three from Myanmar, and one from Bangladesh.

Two Chinese nationals were previously rescued from a life raft. The vessel was en route from India’s Odisha state to Singapore, carrying a cargo of iron ore.
