Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan are carrying out adjustment work within the framework of the Trans-Caspian Fiber-Optic Cable Line construction project, with its commissioning planned for the fourth quarter of this year.

Sea-news.az reports that this was stated by the Telecommunications Committee of the country’s Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development.

The agency emphasized that the project has reached its final stage. The most labor-intensive and primary phase—laying the cable along the bottom of the Caspian Sea—has already been completed. Currently, specialists are carrying out equipment tuning and calibration work.

The Committee noted that the Trans-Caspian Fiber-Optic Cable Line will create an additional international digital route between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, becoming an important element in the development of transit telecommunications infrastructure between Europe and Asia. In addition, possibilities for further expanding the digital corridor in the future and connecting other Central Asian countries to it are being considered.

At the same time, the agency stated that information regarding concrete negotiations with Turkmenistan or other regional states on joining the Trans-Caspian Fiber-Optic Cable Line cannot be disclosed yet until relevant consultations and agreements are finalized.
