Hidden transit in global energy markets

Oil-exporting countries are covertly carrying out hydrocarbon shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, which is considered one of the factors limiting the rise in energy prices.

Sea-news.az reports that this information was released by the Bloomberg agency.

According to the agency, tankers transporting oil from the UAE, Qatar, and Kuwait turn off their transponders while passing through the strait. It is noted that such shipments have been ongoing for several months.

Bloomberg points out that due to the covert nature of these movements, it is difficult to determine the exact volume of oil transported through the strait. However, it is suspected that this figure may be higher than the market’s daily estimate of 4 million barrels.

The agency emphasizes that the movement of such tankers is accompanied by the risk of coming under attack.

According to the report, 23 vessels belonging to the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company have been targeted since the conflict began. As a result, one person was killed and another 20 were injured.
