Kazakhstan is evaluating the potential of alternative routes to diversify its oil exports. Against the backdrop of instability observed in the operations of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC), the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan (BTC) and Baku–Supsa pipelines, as well as transit via Azerbaijan through the Caspian Sea, are being considered as additional export directions.

Sea-news.az reports that the country’s Ministry of Energy provided this information to the Interfax-Kazakhstan agency.

Kazakhstan’s national oil and gas company, KazMunayGas, plans to increase oil exports via the BTC by 31 percent in 2026 compared to the previous year, reaching 1.7 million tons.

In January–June 2026, 704 thousand tons of Kazakh oil were transported via the Port of Baku in the direction of the BTC.

It should be noted that the total length of the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan main export pipeline is 1,768 kilometers. The annual throughput capacity of the pipeline exceeds 50 million tons of oil.
