During another rescue operation carried out off the coast of Greece’s Gavdos Island, 48 illegal migrants were saved from the danger of drowning at sea.

Sea-news.az reports that the coast guard implemented prompt measures to rescue the migrants who were left helpless at sea.

The official statement of the Coast Guard Authority notes: “Within the framework of the operation carried out in the waters, 2 people were pulled from the sea and rescued by a ‘FRONTEX’ vessel, 7 people by a commercial ship passing through the area, and another 39 people via a boat of the Hellenic Coast Guard.”

Currently, one vessel and one rescue boat of the Coast Guard are continuously carrying out search and rescue operations in the maritime area for other individuals suspected to be missing.
