The construction of the new Beyneu-Saksaulsk highway will directly connect the border checkpoints on the Chinese border with Kazakhstan’s strategic Aktau and Kuryryk sea ports located on the Caspian Sea coast.
Sea-news.az reports that this was stated by Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during a solemn teleconference dedicated to the launch of the construction of new highways.
According to the head of state, this large-scale transport and logistics project will shorten the cargo transportation route from China to Europe via the Caspian Sea by 1,000 kilometers and reduce container delivery times to three days. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized that the highway to be commissioned will become one of the main international transport arteries within the Middle Corridor (Trans-Caspian International Transport Route), significantly increasing the transit potential of the Caspian region.
