The dry cargo ship “Hacı Huseyn” heading from Russia to Turkeys İskenderun port, has run aground in the Bosphorus due to a technical malfunction in its engine.

Sea-news.az reports citing the Turkish Coastal Safety Directorate, that the 154-meter-long vessel, sailing under the flag of Sao Tome and Principe, was carrying 22,000 tons of iron ore on board. The incident was recorded near the Kanlıca coast of the strait as a result of an engine failure.

Due to the emerging security risk, vessel traffic in the Bosphorus has been temporarily suspended in both directions.

Currently, two tugboats and one cutter belonging to the relevant agencies have been dispatched to the scene, and operations are underway to rescue the ship and restore navigation.
