The “Zangilan” tanker, built at the Baku Shipyard by the order of the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO), has reached its two-year operational milestone. The vessel was officially commissioned on July 2, 2024, with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev.

According to sea-news.az citing seanews.az, the “Zangilan” has demonstrated strong performance during its two years of service. It has completed 83 voyages along the Alaca–Kianli–Sangachal route, transporting a total of 566,831 tons of cargo.

Technical Specifications and Capabilities:
The new-generation tanker is designed to transport both crude oil and chemical products. Its key features include:

Dimensions: 141 meters in length, 16.9 meters in width, and a hull height of 6 meters.

Capacity: The vessel has a deadweight of 7,875 tons and is equipped with 6 cargo tanks.

Performance: The tanker is operated by a crew of 15 and is capable of reaching a speed of 10 knots.

The technical design of the “Zangilan,” particularly its draft, provides a significant strategic advantage. It allows the vessel to enter relatively shallow ports within the Caspian basin while carrying a maximum cargo load, as well as enabling the transport of goods beyond the Caspian Sea.
