The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey has issued a statement regarding the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attack on a cargo ship belonging to its country within the territory of Ukraine.

According to sea-news.az the incident took place near the Port of Chornomorsk, resulting in injuries to two Turkish citizens among the ship’s crew.

“It has been determined that two of our citizens on the crew of the Turkish-owned, Panama-flagged vessel, which was subjected to a UAV attack near the Port of Chornomorsk in Ukraine this morning, were injured. The condition of our citizens is being closely monitored by our Embassy in Kyiv and our Consulate General in Odesa,” the statement reads.

The Ministry stated that concerns regarding the attacks in the Black Sea, which pose a threat to interests and regional security as a result of the rising tension in the Russia-Ukraine war, are being brought to the attention of the official authorities of both sides.

“Ensuring the safe navigation of civilian vessels in the Black Sea is one of our country’s main priorities, and we call on all parties to take steps aimed at reducing tension in the region,” the ministry’s statement emphasized.
