The Arbitration Court of the Nizhny Novgorod Region has partially upheld a claim filed by the Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard against the German company Schottel Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung.

According to sea-news.az the shipyard had demanded the return of an advance payment of €1.8 million from its former partner, along with €184,000 in penalties.

The supply contract for ship equipment was signed in 2020, and the advance payment was made accordingly. Deliveries were scheduled for 2022–2024, but after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, operations and supply chains were disrupted due to EU and US sanctions.

Although both sides attempted to resolve the dispute out of court, no agreement was reached, and the case was brought before the arbitration court.

It is noted that sanctions and the suspension of supplies by European companies have also affected several OSK shipbuilding projects, including the construction of 11 bulk carriers intended for the State Transport Leasing Company (STLC).
