A new shipment of humanitarian aid from Mexico and Uruguay has arrived at the port of Havana today.

The information was reported by Cuba’s Cubadebate portal.

The vessel was received at the port by Cuba’s Deputy Prime Minister Oscar Pérez-Oliva Fraga, ministers of food industry and domestic trade, as well as the ambassadors of Mexico and Uruguay to Havana.

The humanitarian cargo includes food products and hygiene supplies. It has been stated that the aid will primarily be directed to children, the elderly, and other vulnerable groups.

Cuban officials noted that the country continues to face serious difficulties due to U.S.-imposed trade, economic, and financial restrictions.

The Mexican ambassador stated that this is already the eighth aid shipment to Cuba this year, and that Uruguay has joined the initiative for the first time.

According to reports, new U.S. restrictions on fuel supplies have further worsened conditions in the country.
