Sea-news.az reports that citing Iranian media, that the statement was issued by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

“This afternoon, an oil tanker that ignored warnings and transited through a prohibited and hazardous zone east of the Strait of Hormuz struck sea mines, igniting a fire onboard,” the IRGC stated.

The statement added that Tehran’s stance on the strategic waterway remains unchanged:

“All vessels, particularly oil tankers and commercial ships, must fully comply with warnings and designated corridors while refraining from turning off their tracking systems.”
