Explosions have been reported off the Iranian coast in the vicinity of the Strait of Hormuz.

Sea-news.az reports citing the Fars news agency, which referenced local sources in the area.

According to these sources, detonation sounds originated from offshore waters near the city of Sirik in southeastern Iran and adjacent to Qeshm Island.

Residents on Qeshm Island observed flashes in the sky and heard loud blast detonations. Several sources suggested the activity could be linked to the engagement of air defense systems.

The agency noted that, according to preliminary reports, some of the sounds may have been connected to warning shots or fire directed at vessels violating Iranian transit rules governing the Strait of Hormuz.
