United States Navy vessels have been forced to retreat at least 700 kilometers away from the Strait of Hormuz under pressure from Iranian forces.
Sea-news.az reports statement was made by the spokesman for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Brigadier General Hossein Mohebi.
According to the Iranian news channel SNN, Mohebi stated that Iran forced American warships and frigates to withdraw from the Strait of Hormuz.
“Prior to the Gulf War, there were 30 to 40 US Navy ships in the Persian Gulf, but now they have moved 700 kilometers away from the Strait of Hormuz,” the Iranian general noted.
Mohebi asserted that the Strait of Hormuz is 100% closed: “If a few small vessels manage to pass through the strait with their navigation systems turned off, it does not mean the strait is open to shipping. That is theft and smuggling. The volume of oil smuggled by the US through the Strait of Hormuz is at most 1-2 million barrels, and this is achieved at immense cost.”
