Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi made an important statement regarding the restoration of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz at the 52nd session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Baghdad.
Sea-news.az reports citing Iranian media, that A. Araghchi stated Tehran has conveyed a concrete 7-day program to the United States via Qatar to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and normalize maritime security.
According to the minister, if the proposed conditions are met, negotiations between the parties could begin. “We have announced the program; the choice now rests with the United States,” he emphasized.
He also noted that military threats and blockades do not contribute to regional security, stating that Iran supports peace while safeguarding its own sovereignty. Expressing concern over developments on the Arabian Peninsula, Araghchi affirmed support for the territorial integrity of Yemen and Saudi Arabia, adding that crises should be resolved solely through the cooperation of regional states.
However, US President Donald Trump rejected Iran’s proposed 7-day plan, calling it “unacceptable”.
