In the town of Gosport on the southern coast of England, clashes broke out between protesters and police as migrants who had crossed the English Channel in small boats were brought ashore.

Sea-news.az citing the BBC, that approximately 150 anti-immigration protesters gathered in an attempt to block personnel from the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) from bringing the migrants to land.

During the protest, which continued until the early hours of the morning, some individuals lit flares, and brief scuffles occurred with police officers.

According to the UK Home Office, 149 migrants were rescued during an operation conducted in the central section of the English Channel involving the RNLI and a French vessel. They were subsequently transported by bus to a processing center in Kent.

Although the protest in Gosport remained largely peaceful, some demonstrators stood in front of police vehicles to impede their movement.

Hampshire Police stated that officers were deployed to the area to support partner agencies in responding to potential maritime emergencies.
