The Trans-Caspian fiber-optic communication line connecting Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan along the seabed of the Caspian Sea is scheduled to be commissioned by the end of 2026.

Sea-news.az reports that Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov stated this at the CAMCA Regional Forum in Baku—the annual gathering of regional leaders connecting Central Asia, Mongolia, the South Caucasus, and Afghanistan.

According to the minister, the new fiber-optic line will establish a new high-capacity connection between Europe and Asia.

M. Jabbarov noted that Azerbaijan has been an integral part of the regional architecture for many years. He added that Azerbaijan’s joining of the Consultative Meetings of Heads of State of Central Asia format has further deepened the political dimension of regional cooperation.

The minister stated that Azerbaijan became a full participant in the Consultative Meeting of Heads of State of Central Asia held in Tashkent in November 2025, acting as the first country from outside Central Asia to join this format.

M. Jabbarov added that the first meeting of trade and investment ministers of Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan was also held under this format a few days ago.

“Our goal is to reach a regional trade turnover of $20 billion and organize joint product manufacturing under the ‘Made in Central Asia’ brand,” the minister emphasized.
