September 26 is celebrated as the professional holiday of the employees of the State Service of Special Communication and Information Security of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Sea-news.az recalls that President Ilham Aliyev signed a relevant decree regarding this occasion.

It should be noted that the body was first established on October 1, 1994, as the “Communication and Technical Unit” within the Department of Material and Technical Supply of the Main Protection Department of the Supreme State Authorities and Administration Bodies of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Later, it continued its operations as an independent division, department, and directorate within the structure of the Special State Protection Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Pursuant to Decree No. 708 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated September 26, 2012, the State Agency for Special Communication and Information Security of the Special State Protection Service was created.

Furthermore, by Decree No. 957 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated March 16, 2020, the independent State Service of Special Communication and Information Security of the Republic of Azerbaijan was established on the basis of the Agency.

The State Service of Special Communication and Information Security (SSSCIS) was established to organize, operate, secure, and develop special-purpose information and communication systems and networks, inter-agency electronic document circulation, connection of state bodies to the Internet, and the hosting of their information resources in the data and resource center, as well as to implement special technical measures for the security of state protection objects and protected facilities.

Enhancing cybersecurity readiness in state bodies, implementing preventive measures, conducting security monitoring of internet resources and information systems, and providing technical and methodological assistance to state entities to improve cybersecurity are also among the primary duties of the State Service.
