The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor) plays a crucial role in the development of global trade, connecting two continents. Over the past five years, the volume of transit cargo shipments via the Middle Corridor has increased by 3.5 times.

Sea-news.az reports that this was stated by the Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Maksat Kaliakperov, during his speech at the Global Sustainable Transport Forum in Beijing.

According to him, in 2025, the volume of container transport along the Middle Corridor reached 77 thousand TEUs. By 2029, this figure is planned to reach 300 thousand TEUs.

The Deputy Prime Minister noted that 13 international transport corridors pass through Kazakhstan. According to him, over the past 15 years, the country has invested 35 billion dollars in the development of these corridors and the creation of relevant infrastructure.

“By utilizing digital technologies in vehicles operating along the Middle Corridor, it is possible to deliver larger volumes of cargo to their destination without loss of time. Serious steps are being taken in this direction. Cooperation with the South Caucasus countries, China, and European nations continues,” Maksat Kaliakperov noted.
