A meeting was held between Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Steven Witkoff, Special Envoy of White House leader Donald Trump, on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

Sea-news.az reports referencing IRIB, the meeting took place on the initiative of the US representative. The reopening of the Strait of Hormuz was discussed during the meeting.

According to IRIB, the main reason for accepting Witkoff’s request for a meeting was to convey Iran’s conditions regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to the US side.

According to the report, Iran’s position was conveyed to the US representative during the meeting. As part of its conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, the Iranian side demanded the immediate lifting of the naval blockade, the immediate unfreezing/release of all blocked assets, and the end of the war on “all resistance fronts.”

It should be noted that US President Donald Trump stated that a meeting was held between US and Iranian officials in New York, and the talks lasted for three hours.
