Cuba has condemned the increase of US military presence in Latin America and the Caribbean under the pretext of combating drug trafficking.
Sea-news.az reports that Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez wrote about this on the “X” social media platform.
The minister stated that Washington uses the fight against drug trafficking as a tool for dominance in the region and attempts to undermine cooperation mechanisms.
Bruno Rodríguez accused the US administration of applying a modern version of the Monroe Doctrine. He also condemned Washington’s intensification of the blockade against Cuba, the energy embargo, secondary sanctions, and threats of military intervention against the island.
Notably, according to the provided information, the Donald Trump administration has maintained significant military forces in the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean since September 2025 within the framework of the anti-drug trafficking campaign.
