US military forces destroy floating refueling station used in illicit drug trafficking in the Eastern Pacific
Sea-news.az reports that the United States Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) shared this information on the social media platform “X”.
According to the report, the facility in question was stated to be used in the activities of groups engaged in the illegal transportation of narcotics.
The US side did not disclose further details regarding the operation, the exact location of the facility, or whether there were any casualties during the incident.
According to the agency’s information, intelligence authorities confirmed that the vessel was linked to the “Los Choneros” narcoterrorist organization. It operated to support illegal drug trade operations. During the operation, the personnel of the station were removed from the vessel and handed over to the government of Ecuador, after which the facility was scuttled.
