Thirty more bodies have been recovered from the charred wreckage of the passenger ferry that caught fire off the coast of the Philippines’ Palawan province.

The ferry caught fire while traveling from the capital city of Manila to Palawan, carrying over 130 passengers. Authorities report that 43 passengers have been rescued, while the fate of 54 others remains unknown.

Rescue teams faced severe challenges entering the interior compartments of the vessel due to extreme residual temperatures and thick smoke.
