Azerbaijan introduces new production subsidies to boost aquaculture and local food supply

A new subsidy mechanism will be implemented in Azerbaijan to increase the production capacity of aquaculture enterprises and enhance the country’s self-sufficiency in fish products.

Sea-news.az reports that, according to the decision of the Agrarian Subsidy Council, product subsidies will be granted for various fish species produced domestically.

Specifically, the subsidy amount has been set at 2,000 AZN per ton for salmonids (sturgeon-like and salmon-like fish), and 600 AZN per ton for cyprinids and other freshwater fish.

The subsidies will apply to aquaculture enterprises registered in the Electronic Agriculture Information System (AKİS). Payments will be disbursed provided that the products produced at the facilities are officially delivered to suppliers based on proper sales documentation.

Additionally, to support the restoration of local table egg production in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, a product subsidy will also be introduced. A subsidy of 30 AZN will be granted for every 1,000 table eggs produced in registered poultry farms and sold to suppliers.

This new support mechanism is expected to stimulate local production in the aquaculture and poultry sectors, thereby strengthening domestic market security and self-reliance.
