Every year on August 13, World Organ Donation Day is marked on the international calendar.
Sea-news.az reports that the main purpose of the day is to draw attention to the problems of people suffering from organ shortages, increase public awareness in this area, and promote voluntary donation.
As a result of the rapid development of medicine, organ and tissue transplantation makes it possible to save thousands of lives. Modern transplantation methods provide patients suffering from kidney, liver, heart, and other vital organ failures the chance to restore their health and return to a normal life.
According to experts, the number of people in need of organ transplantation in the world is increasing year by year. For this reason, increasing the number of donors, expanding medical and legal capabilities, and conducting awareness-raising work among the population are of special importance.
World Organ Donation Day not once again highlights the importance of donation in saving human lives, but also calls on society to approach this issue with greater sensitivity.
