Yemen’s “Ansar Allah” movement (Houthis) has stated that ballistic missile strikes were carried out against the Saudi-owned oil tanker “Wafa” in the northern waters of the Red Sea, near Saudi Arabia’s Yanbu sea port.
Sea-news.az reports that the Al Jazeera television channel conveyed this, citing a video message from the movement’s military spokesman, Yahya Saria, that the missiles hit the tanker with precision.
Saria stated that since the declaration of the shipping and naval blockade against Saudi Arabia on July 22, the total number of the Kingdom’s oil tankers attacked by “Ansar Allah” has reached 8.
According to the movement’s representative, due to maritime restrictions in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, Saudi Arabia has been forced to redirect its tankers to the northern part of the Red Sea. Meanwhile, the number of Saudi tankers forced to change their routes and turn back as a result of warning strikes in the Red and Arabian seas has risen to 29. The Houthis stated that they will further intensify maritime operations to completely halt Saudi Arabia’s oil shipments within the framework of the naval blockade.
