The Yemeni Coast Guard and Navy have rescued the 14-member crew of an Indian-owned cargo ship that was attacked and sank in the Red Sea waters.
Sea-news.az reports that the commercial vessel named “Faizi Noori Auliya” was attacked by a mined, remotely controlled cutter approximately 13 nautical miles south of the port city of Hodeidah. As a result of the strike, the vessel suffered severe damage on board and sank at sea.
Thanks to the prompt rescue operation by the Yemeni maritime forces, 13 Indian citizens and 1 Yemeni citizen on board the ship were evacuated from the sea.
It is reported that the sailors were not injured during the incident. The crew brought to the safety zone was provided with necessary medical assistance, and maritime security structures have launched an investigation into the incident.
