A sightseeing boat carrying tourists suddenly capsized and began to sink near the village of Goryachinsk in the Pribaikalsky district of Russia’s Republic of Buryatia.
Sea-news.az reports that the incident occurred during a leisure trip. According to preliminary estimates, the boat’s driver lost control while making a sharp maneuver, as a result of which the maritime/lake transport vehicle suddenly failed to enter a turn and overturned.
Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident. Vacationers left helpless in the lake were promptly brought ashore.
Currently, the relevant maritime and water transport inspection is investigating the exact causes of the incident and checking the boat operator’s compliance with safety regulations.
