Every year on July 29, the global community celebrates International Tiger Day.

According to sea-news.az that this notable date was established in 2010 at an international forum dedicated to the protection of tiger populations called the “Tiger Summit” held in St. Petersburg. The 13 states where tigers inhabit their natural environment acted as initiators. Within the framework of the summit, a recovery program for 2010–2022 aiming to double the number of tigers was adopted.

The tiger is included in the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s (IUCN) “Red List” and is among globally protected species. A complete ban on hunting these rare predators was introduced back in 1947, and strict legal restrictions have been applied since 1955, prohibiting the capture of tiger cubs.
