Despite uncertainty in the global liquefied natural gas (LNG) market and tensions in the Middle East, Croatia does not expect any disruptions in the country’s gas supply in 2026.
According to sea-news.az that Ivan Fugar, director of the LNG terminal located on the island of Krk, stated this. He noted that even against the backdrop of the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz and reduced supplies from Qatar, all LNG tankers planned for this year are expected to arrive at the terminal in accordance with the schedule.
Currently, the annual regasification capacity of the Krk LNG terminal is 3.5 billion cubic meters. With the completion of pipeline projects, an additional 1 billion cubic meters of gas will be supplied to the market in the second quarter of 2027, bringing the terminal’s total annual capacity to 4.3–4.5 billion cubic meters.
I. Fugar emphasized that the terminal’s existing transmission capacities are already fully booked until October 2037. Operating since 2021, this facility is one of the main pillars of Croatia’s energy security and plays an important role in diversifying the gas supply of Central and South-Eastern European countries.
