Attacks on civilian merchant vessels in the Black Sea continue. The dry cargo ship Babylon has been struck by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) near the Russian city of Anapa.
According to sea-news.az citing Qafqazinfo, that while the vessel sustained damage due to the attack, there were no deaths or serious injuries among the crew members. The sailors were safely evacuated and brought to a nearby port. There has been no official statement yet regarding which side is responsible for the incident.
It should be noted that the number of drone attacks against civilian cargo ships in the region has increased in recent days. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has also issued warnings regarding the growing threats to civilian shipping. A few days ago, Samad Nasrullayev, an Azerbaijani captain of the Atlas Bay vessel, was killed in a similar attack off the coast of Odessa.
Investigations regarding the Babylon vessel are currently ongoing.
