In recent days, the Agrarian Services Agency under the Ministry of Agriculture has received reports regarding the mass appearance of locusts on the Absheron Peninsula, particularly in coastal areas.
According to sea-news.az that the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan has released an official statement on the matter.
It was stated that, in response to these reports, experts from the Agency’s Plant Protection and Fumigation Center were immediately deployed to the affected areas to carry out observation measures.
According to the specialists, the occurrence of such natural phenomena is directly linked to the sharp climate changes observed in recent times. As global and regional climatic conditions shift, many living organisms, including locusts, are migrating in large numbers toward new geographical areas.
Currently, experts from the Agrarian Services Agency are intensively conducting chemical control measures against the pests in the areas where the locusts have spread extensively. The process is reported to be fully under control.
