A successful operational measure against illegal drug trafficking has been carried out by the employees of the Water Transport Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

According to sea-news.az based on operational information received by the department, it was determined that drug sales were being organized in the area called Gum Island, located in the Hovsan settlement of the Surakhani district, which falls under the service territory of the water police.

Suspect Detained
As a result of urgent operational-search measures, Vugar Tahirov, a previously convicted individual suspected of organizing the sale of narcotics, was detained. During a personal search, a large quantity of marijuana, a narcotic substance, was discovered on him and seized as material evidence.

Investigations launched into the fact at the Water Transport Police Department are currently ongoing.
