Tehran will not reopen the Strait of Hormuz until a ceasefire is achieved in Lebanon and restrictions on the sale of Iranian oil are lifted.
According to sea-news.az Irans “Tasnim” news agency reported this, citing a reliable source.
According to the source, Tehran’s absolute conditions for reopening the strategic waterway to navigation are as follows:
- The unfreezing of all of Iran’s financial assets frozen abroad;
- The complete cessation of military operations across all fronts in the region, including Lebanon;
- The lifting of the blockade imposed against the country and the granting of official permits for oil sales.
The agency’s interlocutor added that the lifting of the naval blockade alone is not a sufficient condition for the reopening of the said water area.
It should be noted that on June 20, the “Khatam al-Anbiya” Central Headquarters of the Iranian Armed Forces issued a statement declaring that Tehran had closed the Strait of Hormuz because Israel violated the memorandum signed with the US and continued its aggression against Lebanon.
