Vessel navigation has been temporarily suspended in a section of the Volga-Caspian sea shipping canal.

According to sea-news.az the Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Rosmorport” released information regarding the matter. The restrictions have been imposed due to difficult navigational conditions, including the consequences of floods occurring in the region.

According to the official statement from “Rosmorport”, the movement of vessels in the section between kilometers 151 and 155 of the canal has been frozen until June 22 at 00:00. Currently, urgent round-the-clock repair and restoration works are being carried out using four pieces of high-performance specialized equipment to eliminate the problem.

It is noted that additional information regarding the exact time of the resumption of navigation will be provided, and shipowners are advised to adjust their current schedules according to this restriction. As a reminder, the Volga-Caspian sea shipping canal is one of the main cargo routes connecting the Volga River with the Caspian Sea and playing a vital role in the region’s logistics.
