According to information circulating in international media, Iran and Oman are expected to play a key role in determining the future rules for managing shipping services in the Strait of Hormuz, as part of a potential agreement with the United States.
According to sea-news.az reports that the final version of the document reportedly states that the organization and regulation of “maritime services” in the strait will be handled by Iran and Oman. Some interpretations suggest that this wording may effectively grant Iran the right to collect fees for certain maritime services.
It is also reported that Iran would allow free passage through the strait during an initial 60-day period, after which it plans to introduce economic mechanisms, including charges for services such as security and insurance.
Meanwhile, diplomatic discussions in the region reportedly include claims of an agreement between the United States and Iran to suspend military operations. It is said that the parties are preparing to sign a memorandum of understanding in Switzerland on June 19.
