The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has issued a new statement regarding the Strait of Hormuz.
According to sea-news.az the statement notes that the Strait of Hormuz remains open for commercial transit, and that all merchant vessels not violating Iran’s declared blockade regime are permitted to use the route.
CENTCOM stated that safe passage routes have been established for ships transiting the strait, and that hundreds of commercial vessels have passed through safely over the past two months.
The statement also emphasized that Iran does not control the Strait of Hormuz, and that transit traffic continues in accordance with international maritime law.
At the same time, it was added that U.S. Armed Forces in the region remain on full combat readiness in response to potential threats.
