The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has expanded sanctions against Iran’s energy sector by adding six more LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) carriers linked to Iran to its blacklist.
According to sea-news.az the vessels “MD 23,” “Glendale,” “Amir Gas,” “Gas Lagoon,” “Mile,” and “Gaz GMS” have been sanctioned. According to U.S. authorities, these ships have been involved in transporting Iranian-origin LPG cargoes in recent years.
Washington has also imposed restrictions on several trading companies registered in the United Arab Emirates, as well as their executives, who are accused of facilitating Iran’s continued energy exports through sanctions evasion schemes. In some cases, Iranian LPG shipments were reportedly misdeclared as originating from Oman to avoid restrictions.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that under the “Economic Fury” operation, Iran’s shadow fleet, informal financial networks, and global trade access routes will continue to be targeted.
