Legal Action Against Cargo Vessel

A Swedish court has authorized the confiscation of the cargo vessel “Caffa” and its transfer to Ukraine.

According to sea-news.az citing Seanews.az, the Ukrainian side accuses the vessel of transporting grain from Crimean ports and using false registration documents to conceal its operations.

The Swedish Coast Guard detained the ship in March on suspicion of sailing under a falsified Guinea flag and directed it to the port of Trelleborg.

Built in 1997, the vessel is currently owned by a company registered in the Seychelles, although it was previously under the control of Russian owners. The ship’s captain was initially arrested on charges of submitting forged documents but was later released. No charges were brought against the crew.

The Caffa remains detained in the Swedish port of Trelleborg. Ukraine has previously seized similar vessels and redirected proceeds from their sale to the state budget.
