Ten Indian seafarers detained in Iran in July 2025 in connection with an oil tanker incident have been released following diplomatic efforts.

According to Times of Israel, citing Indian maritime authorities, the crew members of the vessel MV Harbour Phoenix were detained after the ship was seized near Jask port, subsequently arrested, and later held in prison in Iran.

The Directorate General of Shipping of India stated that the seafarers have now been freed and safely reunited. Arrangements are underway to return them to India at the earliest opportunity.
