The presentation ceremony of the AZCON School of Engineering and Technology (AZSET) was held as part of a partnership between AZCON Holding and the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), with academic support from TUM International GmbH.
The event featured speeches by Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev, Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev, CEO of TUM International GmbH Friederike Hettinger, and AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev.
Minister Emin Amrullayev stated that international experience shows cooperation between universities, innovation companies, and business organizations produces more effective results.
According to the minister, one of the key goals is to ensure higher education institutions contribute more actively to economic development and the creation of an innovative environment. He emphasized that cooperation with Germany’s leading universities and innovation companies represents an important investment in the future of Azerbaijani youth.
Minister Rashad Nabiyev noted that AZSET will establish a new international-standard cooperation model between industry and higher education in Azerbaijan.
He said students will be able to receive education aligned with the quality standards of the Technical University of Munich without leaving the country, while also gaining practical experience through direct involvement in real projects within the AZCON Holding ecosystem.
In her remarks, Friederike Hettinger stated that the project aims to create a regional center of excellence in Baku in the fields of computer science, data analytics, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.
According to her, the first stage will launch a bachelor’s program in computer science, followed later by a computer engineering program.
AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev described AZSET as a strategic investment in Azerbaijan’s digital future. He stated that the project’s key outcomes will include the training of highly qualified engineers, development of new technologies, and formation of internationally competitive human capital.
At the end of the event, an agreement on the establishment of AZSET was signed by AZCON Holding Executive Director Shahin Babayev, AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev, and TUM International GmbH CEO Friederike Hettinger.
