Since its launch, the RoPax type “Azerbaijan” ferry has transported a total of 23,739 passengers.
According to Report, which cites the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO), over the past four years, the ferry has also carried 1,214 railcars, 23,883 trucks, and 3,844 passenger cars.
The “Azerbaijan” ferry has a length of 154.50 meters, a width of 17.7 meters, and a board height of 7.5 meters. Currently, it stands as the largest ferry in the Caspian Sea in terms of cargo capacity, capable of carrying 100 passengers, 56 tank wagons, or 50 freight vehicles/TIRs.
The ferry, built at the Baku Shipbuilding Plant, was officially launched on March 1, 2021, with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva.
This uniquely designed ferry was recognized as the “Best Ferry of 2021” by Baird Maritime. Additionally, it was listed among the world’s top 50 vessels in RINA’s “Significant Ships of 2021”.
