The delegation led by the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Belgium, Alexander de Croo, who is on a visit to our country within the framework of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), visited the Port of Baku. In the meeting, which was attended by the Minister of Transport and Digital Development of Azerbaijan, Mr. Rashad Nabiyev, discussions were held on reducing carbon emissions to zero, minimizing the harmful effects on the climate in the maritime sector, and solutions for the sustainable development of the port. Additionally, in the meeting, which was also attended by the Ambassador of Belgium to Azerbaijan, Julien de Fraipont, and the executives of “Jan de Nul Group”, an experienced Belgian company in the field of marine services and dredging, issues of mutual interest were discussed, such as further cooperation and increasing the exchange opportunities between Belgian ports and the Port of Baku.
At the end, the guests got acquainted with the port terminals and the operations process according to the technological innovations there.
It should be noted that currently there is cooperation between the Port of Baku and the Port of Antwerp.
