Azerbaijan to increase transshipment of fertilizers from Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan

The construction of a fertilizer terminal on the territory of Baku International Sea Trade Port CJSC is planned to be completed by the end of May, Director-General of CJSC Taleh Ziyadov said, Report informs.

He noted that the opening of the terminal is scheduled for June-July.

“The fertilizer terminal is of great importance, since at present a rather large volume of fertilizers is transported from Central Asia to the West through the territory of Azerbaijan. Our capabilities allow us to transship 1-1.5 million tons of fertilizers. With the new terminal, the Baku port will transship about 2.5 million tons of fertilizers. Thus, it will be possible to deliver fertilizers to the West from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan through Azerbaijan,” Ziyadov added.
